DALLAS – September 14, 2020 – Carstens & Cahoon, a full-service intellectual property law firm based in Dallas, Texas, is pleased to add Brian Carpenter as its newest partner.

Carpenter brings more than 29 years of litigation experience with a focus on patent litigation. He has been trial counsel in numerous patent cases involving technologies ranging from complex digital electronics, wireless protocols, and computer architectures to less complex mechanical devices. Carpenter has handled many other types of intellectual property cases, including copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, unfair competition, as well as commercial cases involving breach of contract and business torts. In addition to his litigation experience, Carpenter advises clients on the monetization of intellectual property assets, including by licensing and by patent assertion programs.

Carpenter received his law degree from the University of Texas School of Law. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University. Before his legal career, he practiced engineering at Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas.
